Kids Furniture
Shopping for their first child's arrival, New York businessman Philip Erdoes and his wife couldn't find any furniture they liked. "Why should you have to check your level of taste at the door of the child's room?" says Erdoes, who then launched ducduc, which, instead of fairy tales and cartoons, looks to inspirations like Donald Judd sculptures and the Case Study houses. The results are stylish pieces like the Cabana collection's armoire, chaise, bed, credenza, and desk. Ducduc's ecofriendly focus is a boon to child safety: sustainable hardwoods and nontoxic, water-based finishes. And since the company owns its Connecticut factory, it's happy to oblige requests for customized changes to its 75-odd pieces.
