"Fathers don't want something that is traditionally seen as 'baby'," said David Harris, design director of New York-based ducduc, a line of clean simple modern furniture. Founded by four men, ducduc's furniture collection, which includes convertible options like a crib/toddler bed, includes bright, bold colors like the company's signature orange. "We have seen a lot of fathers that have come to us and basically been the driving force on what crib will be used. At ducduc we always say, don't check your taste at the door." Harris noted that fathers now take an active role in choosing items for the nursery-and are often informed, design-driven shoppers. "They come in and they've researched the market and they know what they want," he stated. "Guys like to get into the gear of things-[now] they've taken that and applied it to the nursery."
